Some might say I am color obsessed. I suppose you could look at it that way. In my business, it really DOES make a difference which shade of blue you choose for a client. A bride may want a pale blue, no hint of purple, but not aquamarine....you get the picture. So do I.
Colors for the home are the same for me. When my son says he wants gray for his room, I say what kind of gray? He looks around the room for support that I have two heads. "What KIND of gray? Mom, the good kind, not the ugly kind, ok?" Oh......cool, now I get it. Only 4,234 shades to go through. Ok, slight exaggeration, but you get the picture here as well, I imagine.
What color is under your skin at the moment? Have you found the perfect paint chip?
Do tell...
I'm at that point, after living almost nine years in this house, to repaint each and every room. I'm a huge color nut, but strangely enough I've really been attracted to simple white interiors lately. I have a lot of color in my furniture and accessories and I love the idea of a color explosion against a serene white background. Anyway, that's all wishful thinking because with three boys the all white interiors would soon be all gray and NOT, I fear, the "perfect" shade of gray! ;0)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!

wow
ReplyDeletethese colors are beautiful... and your son, he's so funny!!!
have a good weekend!!
that's a difficult question...
ReplyDeletei learned a lot about color through oil painting which helped translate into decor and such. i appreciate the intricacies of color in a way i may not have had i never picked up a paint brush. i ADORE all things color...
oh I love colors too! my favorite at the moment is pink, all shades of pink except bubblegum! have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeletefunny you should mention,as I've been looking for a good gray for a sewing table I nabbed. My husband offered to pick up some paint for me, but I couldn't release control. Your son has good taste, at that age I wanted a rag rolled wall that ended up looking like tie dye!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say green,.. esp since the babydecor was ordered it was listed as aqua, and I was like ok, it is light greeenish blue
ReplyDeletebut then I get it and it is like mint green but a fem mint green,.. Idk???
My husband is the same way...if I say I like pink, then he shows me his color charts of a zillion different pinks! Ahhh...to be married to a beautiful and creative artist who makes me see there are always more shades of the rainbow!
ReplyDeleteSo..to answer your question, my color of the week would be lapis lazuli blue because it reminds me of my daughter's eyes.
Me too for sure!!! I will ask one million and one questions about the shade and shape of COLOR and it is SO Important!! I glad I am not the only one with two heads:)
ReplyDeletexox's
love you g!
aqua is always under my skin...the aqua that is the color of the clear carribean sea. and lately, orange...i really don't have any orange, but i do like the idea of a pop in vintage modern chair or something along those lines. as for walls, i'm pretty much one of those that just about always prefers white.
ReplyDeletemy email just popped up with your comment as i was about to hit post comment here...funny we're on each others blogs at the same time!
Gray is a current favorite. Also brilliant fuchsia. And turquoise! But, these days I cannot get enough white.
ReplyDeletetee hee! he might be more like you than he thinks! just wait until he sees the smorgasborg of greys available -- he will get the picture and i bet he'll be real picky about what goes up!
ReplyDeleteYour son's response added a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteLately I have been thinking of a nice creme color. You know not too white and not to yellow... So I get what your son says the "good cool" kind.
Have a golden weekend! xoxo
O'yes, the joy of living color!
ReplyDeleteFor interior I still prefer the neutrals...I do add pop of color with the accessories, I'm currently in my blue & white stage! Lovely weekend dear~
mmm "vaste question" ... I would say ... taupe ... and different shade of greys ...
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful weekend!
I love orange right now. Like the color of a naval orange.
ReplyDeleteI love your palette picture! How funny the variances in colour, when we are obsessed! I have such a hard time buying fabrics online, because I will take the time to write a question...is that a sea blue or a cornflower blue...and it arrived and it is teal green?? Really into the bright popping shades of dupioni silks right now and finding fun complimentary shades of embroidery threads. Colour is really just so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI adore going into the paint store and going through all the chips...I love color...nothing better than opening up a fresh box of pencil crayons....great post today!!!!My color of choice today and for awhile has been robin egg blue...can't get enough of that color!
ReplyDeleteI am and always will be an aqua girl. Love your blog ! Lisa
ReplyDeleteAny color by Farrow & Ball-it's all I use-such gorgeous colors and the most pigmented paint. Just yesterday I painted my shed door in F & B Chinese Blue.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I had a similar experience with my 3 year old son. I was looking for earmuffs- he decides, he too needs a pair. So I ask what color and show him some "masculine" looking ones(if that's even possible). He says he'd like blue. I show him 3 shades, he points to a pair and says. I like the sunny blue ones. It was then left to me to determine which ones were "sunny blue". I got the right ones, but I'd have called them "smurfy". :)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha, there certainly are a lot of greys to choose from!
ReplyDeleteI am into corals right now.
I'm still looking towards summer so I am still in a coral mood (orangey coral). For fall it is always, always royal purple. And grey. Black and more black. Mmmmmmm.
