Having an unexpected obsession with dark walls. I have always been a white wall girl, let your objects be the draw, not the room color, but now....oy, I am overwhelmed by my love of certain spaces. I recently moved and painted most of the downstairs a light color, except one room painted silver fox, BM. I am so drawn to it and am dreaming of down pipe walls(F&B) everywhere else. What a change!!! Huge. Is this a phase? Not sure, but it is really pulling me for some reason. But, hey, it is just paint. So if I feel like the walls are closing in on me, I can change it pretty easily......right?
Are you swooning over these rich and dreamy abode's, too? Question. Can you paint some rooms really dark and other much lighter if they open to eachother. Seems thoughts on this are mixed. What is yours?

I could crawl into that second image and live there! SO much character, energy and so simple all at the same time. This is what I try to accomplish. Great post my little g. friend!

What is it with us white wall girls and our dark obsession lately? I'm so in the same boat with you! I'm dying to paint something Down Pipe like our girl Abigail. That's a good question - I think the contrast may be too much(?) But then again, I like the idea of having one dark room in an all white house. Hmm . . . let me know when you've figured it out! :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely juxtapose a light room and a dark room - it makes for decorating drama.
ReplyDeleteI have been craving a ship chandelier for ages...I found a knock off at z gallery!
ReplyDelete<3 LOVE <3
ReplyDeleteI'm transfixed by this colorway as well. In fact, this is the third post today I've come across on this very topic! That last room is off the charts good. I'm dying to "down pipe" every surface in my house.
ReplyDeleteI say go for it. I follow no rules when it comes to decorating, just my heart. May be hokey, but true.
I just want that ship chandelier!!!! Isn't is so Peter Pan? How Neverland.
ReplyDeleteI like the pop of color in against the dark walls. The hot pink table is fun! xoxo

ReplyDeleteOh, why oh why did you do this to me !!!!

That sailingboat! wow so great!
ReplyDeletemm, love the pink room. gorgeous. i think that you can mix dark and light however you feel. i mean, why not create different moods throughout. maybe you just have to find the underlying element that unifies your rooms. you know? lovely dreaming.
