If this were my house, these pictures would slam over onto the floor ten to fifty times a day with people running up and down the stairs with backpacks, friends, animals, etc. The piece on the actual stair kills me. But I DO like it. I am bad about not hanging things with actual nails on walls myself as I think I might want it somewhere else next week. I have lots of "leaners, too.
Do you? Also, did you know asterisk has that s before the k? I did not until today. Anyway...comment.
have a beautiful weekend
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm guilty of leaners as well. But less for effect and more because of a chronic case of indecision. Because living in a house populated by Tasmanian devils, er , I mean my children, is not conducive to leaners as intentional decor.
ReplyDeleteAnd the "s," yes, I knew. :0)
Happy weekend, g.!
I have leaners as well along my mantle wall. The only real safe place in the house from the dog, my honey and me. Sea Witch
ReplyDeleteI always like the look of leaners - they look so stylish. But just like you, mine would be knocked over by a whirlwind of boys playing or my curious and cheeky 16 month old!
ReplyDeletehaha! lovely image but absolutely impossible at home... my little destroyers won't leave one single piece good!
ReplyDeletehope you have a wonderful weekend, darling! I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow... I'll miss you! xo
I did know about asterisk! I'm so excited when I actually know something! There are a few leaners in our house. I think my husband hates them... everything in it's place mentality. The one that scares me is on my son's bureau. Need to move that one!
ReplyDeleteAbout ten years ago, I attended a housewarming with my parents for his boss. Their decorator had placed empty ornate picture frames on the floor in a couple of rooms. My Dad, who is brilliant but not a sophisticate, said "I see you're still unpacking."
ReplyDeleteHmm I've always said "Asterix." which is much easier...
ReplyDeleteI have leaners on my Ikea lack shelves. When My Huband did the siding on our house I came in to find everything on the floor. Lost a lot of frames that way. You definitely need a photo ledge if you're going with leaners.
ReplyDelete*I like that you called them leaners. I'm going to adopt it too.
like it! on stairs though, seems kinda tardish.
ReplyDeleteI'm a "hanger" but I always wanted to lean a big, beautiful mirror-- I just don't have the space for it.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend.
xo
I had leaners recently as we were moving into the new house and I learned a valuable lesson about not keeping shit on the floor with a three year old on the loose. So, no more leaners because everything's at the frame shop being redone. Siiiigh. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful house! Love the dark wooden floor..
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! xox
I love that hall. I want mine to look like that !
ReplyDeleteI have 'leaners' everywhere. The walls in our Victorian house are like iron. It's very hard to get a nail in the wall so, whenever we decorate, which we have a bit recently, it seems to take us ages to get the things back up on the wall..... also, I can never make up my mind where to put them. I did know about asterisk but there are lots of things that I don't know!!!! XXXX
hahahha! well, this is hilarious. i used to work for a MAJOR contemporary art museum, and the director refused to hang art in his house. he had tons of it, but he just leaned it all against the walls. so if he can do it, i guess anybody can.
ReplyDeletepractically speaking, art that is not hung and left tilted against walls nears doors, closets and stairways is just asking for problems. yeesh.
i try to hang most art fairly fast, or store it away. but, i have been known to slack in this department many a time before making my decision and/or finally grabbing the hammer and hardware and getting down to business.
that frame on the stairwell kills me too but looks fab right? I do have some leaning frames but just because I haven't had any time to put them up yet {well, I'm also planning to paint the frames}. Thanks for stopping by the blog. You have a very quirky & awesome one :)
ReplyDeleteI love leaning mirrors and oil paintings.
ReplyDeleteI loveee the leaners! I want to put a shelf above me tv and get some leaners on it. You just pushed me to get around to doing it. :-)) Hope you are well G!!!
ReplyDeletexo Noel
love leaners! they have to be in just the peeeeerfect space though. this looks great!
ReplyDeleteWe have some big leaning piles in our house.. Lovely pieces that really don't deserve to be treated that way!
ReplyDeleteThe sad (and exciting) truth is that they will never be hung.. not here anyway, because within the next 12 months we will have moved.. To Sweden (from Australia). Yay!
Once there the neighbors will be reaching for their earplugs because there will be hefty hammering then! :)
LOVE the picture!
