Have you ever noticed how a color can sometimes sneak up on you? You know, a color you knew was there, but did not seem to get involved in your life very often...and then one day, SLAM, and you realize, I think there is something going on here? Been there. No? Well. I am having that sort of relationship with mustard lately. No, not yellow, mustard, ocher, that sort of hue. Seems to be popping up in pictures, drawings, clothes, all sorts of things that enter my mind and home. Not that I have ever had a thing against mustard, we have just never had a spark, truly, until now.

Is there a color that has you doing a doubletake?

.dark and dreamy

Having an unexpected obsession with dark walls. I have always been a white wall girl, let your objects be the draw, not the room color, but now....oy, I am overwhelmed by my love of certain spaces. I recently moved and painted most of the downstairs a light color, except one room painted silver fox, BM. I am so drawn to it and am dreaming of down pipe walls(F&B) everywhere else. What a change!!! Huge. Is this a phase? Not sure, but it is really pulling me for some reason. But, hey, it is just paint. So if I feel like the walls are closing in on me, I can change it pretty easily......right?

Are you swooning over these rich and dreamy abode's, too? Question. Can you paint some rooms really dark and other much lighter if they open to eachother. Seems thoughts on this are mixed. What is yours?

.amethyst on my mind

Seems like every time I am swooning over an object lately, it has some pinkish, purplish tone, which I am going to call amethyst. Oh, it just is just right up my alley. And it sure does add a little depth and sparkle to a room.

I am getting taken in by all of the colors of Fall. Usually your expected rust and brown, this year the fashion world is running over into some other delicious hues as well.

Some might say I am color obsessed. I suppose you could look at it that way. In my business, it really DOES make a difference which shade of blue you choose for a client. A bride may want a pale blue, no hint of purple, but not aquamarine....you get the picture. So do I.

Colors for the home are the same for me. When my son says he wants gray for his room, I say what kind of gray? He looks around the room for support that I have two heads. "What KIND of gray? Mom, the good kind, not the ugly kind, ok?" Oh......cool, now I get it. Only 4,234 shades to go through. Ok, slight exaggeration, but you get the picture here as well, I imagine.

What color is under your skin at the moment? Have you found the perfect paint chip?

.never too many

I love stripes. My Gramey told me when I was about 19 to never wear horizontal stripes as it was not ladylike. I weighed about 98 pounds and was wearing a guys Ralph Lauren rugby shirt with giant black and navy stripes. I think I must have been quite fetching. But it stuck. I like my stripes better on pillows and rugs. But I do love me a striped dress now and again, and she looks pretty lady-like to me!

This was somehow missing from my post regarding "Do you put stuff ON your books". 

But looking at it really makes me really ponder... sleep!  Doesn't this look so refreshing, yet warm? I also love the touch of the delicious color lavender. Always do.

.blue and green and other things

Ok. So I have had quite a few lovely people ask me a bit about myself so I am going to spew a few things into this post. Good?

I make things.  Started out doing illustrations(showing some here) and went more into paper. I like desktop items. I love watercolor. Many products have evolved from there, some you may have seen places, some maybe not. I tend to gravitate towards simple....whether that is with material or ideas. The things I design most seem to have a clean and simple theme running through them.  My newest venture, leather books, combine the same elements of mixing the very useful with unexpected materials and sizes.  I have been thrilled with the response, and adore making them.

I write a zillion lists.  I  make journals, but I don't journal. Is that a bad admission?  I list.  I jot. I draw. I scribble. I stick things in between pages. I cherish my entries. I bring them everywhere(even around the house). But I do not write about my day in complete sentences.  I know what I am referring to on the pages.  Might not make sense to anyone else, but it's not really for anyone else, right?

Here is about three percent of me described by many things I adore.  Iced tea, cupcakes, beer, light, travel, books in an insane and insatiable way, football, flip flops, crazy high boots, hand written notes, hats, hardwood floors, high ceilings, peonies, the beach, blue jeans, little dresses, shells, heart shaped rocks and foremost on my list, my family.  I cannot really remember what mattered much before my kids. 

Thanks for asking. This blog thing is enlightening and inspiring.  And I am so glad you are here.

Nuff said.

P.S. And no, that is not me with the blanket in the first picture, silly.  I have dark hair.  But remember we are discussing blue and green......

What gave it away? The royalty hint?

Blue is dreamy. Blue is calming.  It can be strong or friendly.  It is universal. Almost everyone likes some shade of blue. Pantone LOVES blue, even naming a shade, Blue Iris (PANTONE 18-3943) to be exact, as the 2008 Color of the Year telling us: "Combining the stable and calming aspects of blue with the mystical and spiritual qualities of purple, Blue Iris satisfies the need for reassurance in a complex world, while adding a hint of mystery and excitement." 

Ok.  Cool.  A hint of mystery is always a plus. They are onto something as according to the big W, in the bandana code of gay leather subculture, wearing a medium blue bandana means one is into the fetish of having sex with someone who is wearing a police uniform. 

That is a bit mysterious. And it is probably more exciting than Royals.....well, maybe.
